The Cloud dramatically failed to live up to its billing last month, when storms in the US managed to cause a service interruption at Amazon Web Services. In the same week, Salesforce.com customers also had to endure an outage, leaving everyone wondering how many of the claims made by cloud evangelists are overblown.
As Clint Boulton reports in his blog Cloud Outages Show CIOs Still at Vendors’ Mercy, it raises questions about where organisations should deploy cloud services. The proprietors of small businesses have to ask the question, if bigger organisations are concerned about the potential risks of cloud, then how much more should we be?
